Node

Summary

  • Creates a Node at any location within the member.

  • Nodes are constrained to the member selected during creation.

  • When interlocking with analysis, the node is used as an element segmentation point.

How to Run

[Base Mode / Point Library Mode / Curve Library Mode / Assembly Unit Mode]

  • Ribbon Menu > [Model] Tab > [Analysis] Group > Node

Explanation

Point Method

This method uses the offset distance to place a new node at that position.

  • [Method]
    Select the point.

  • [Select Member]
Select the member to constrain the node.

  • [Location]
Enter the location of the node within the 1D geometry line of the member.

  • [Alignment]
Set the method of calculating the node position according to the length change of the 1D Geometry Line.

Sets the method of recalling the position of the created Node.

Along the 10m Member shown above, a point offset by 3m from the left is set as the location for the Node. This can be compared with position of the constraint plane offset by 6m along a 20m default constraint path.

  • By Ratio (Default) : Recalls the position of the Node by ratio of the total length.

Since the ratio between the distance to the constraint plane and the total length is set at 30%, the plane is positioned at 6m from the start point.

  • By Distance - Start Point : Recalls the position of the Node by distance from the start point.

Since the distance from the start point is set at 3m, the Constraint Plane is positioned at 3m from the start point.

  • By Distance - End Point : Recalls the position of the Node by distance from the end point.

Since the distance from the end point is set at 7m, the Constraint Plane is positioned at 7m from the end point.

  • By Distance - User Defined : Recalls the position of the Node by distance from the point defined by the user.

Once the user defined value is set to 0.5, a light blue node appear virtually, and remembers the position of the Node by distance to this light blue node. In this case, since the position 2m from the user defined point is rememebered, the Node will be placed 2m from the user defined point.

Offset Method

Enter the offset distance to create a copy of the node at that distance.

  • [Method]
    Select the offset.

  • [Select Node]
Click the Select button and select the Node to copy by entering the offset distance.

  • [Offset Distance]
Enter the offset distance at which to place the copied Node.
