Q. What does the Point Library model?

 

A. Structures whose shape does not change according to alignment changes, such as abutments and piers, are modeled in Point Library Mode and placed in the upper mode.

 

CIM's modeling is based on the Library. This is the basic method of configuring Point Library, which is one of the library components.

  • Base > Library > Point > Enter the setting screen during Create operation.

  • In the basic setting of Point Library, only the ID of the Library and the name of the Library are given.

  • The reference point of the object can be set by the user by Constraint Entity > Point. In addition , the library can be assigned according to the constraint in the parent mode only when the linkage between the object and Constraint Point is set by Expression Entity > Single Point (or Multi-Points).

The Point Library space contains a single group of modeling elements that reference a Reference Point.

It is a basic unit modeling space for allocating to the Curve Library and the Assembly Unit or Base Mode model of higher concepts.

Abutments, piers, bridge bearings, street lights, signs, etc. are affected by arrangement or arrangement according to alignment changes, but if the shape is unique, it is modeled in the Point Library .

Each object created in Point Library Mode is grouped into one group based on the Reference Point (0, 0, 0) to form the Point Library.

At this time, each object has its own constraint to belong to a group, and the types of constraint are as follows.

Point Library Constraint Type

  • Single Point Constraint: A constraint that refers to one constraint point and the position changes according to the geometry of the point, and the
    shape change is possible only by modifying the section (Ex: street lamp without shape change)

  • Multi-Points Constraint: A constraint that changes shape and position according to the geometry of each point by referencing one Default Constraint Point and several constraint points to the geometry of the object
    ( Ex: Change of column length of T-shaped pier and elevation of foundation accordingly change)

The example model is SC-PIER.

 

Select Tartget : Select Target Group to be one Constraint Group

Default Constraint Point : Point to control the position geometry of the entire group

Other Constraint Point : Matching each constraint point and object shape geometry

 

The upper constraint point is set as the default constraint point, and the overall constraint is

You can freely change the shape by holding the bottom of the column as the geometry reference point of the shape.

More complex shape management is possible according to the shape matching with other constraint points.

FAQ

Q ) Why is the Point Library assigned through the Assembly Unit stage instead of directly from the Base?

A ) Through the Constraint Path and Constraint Point in the Assembly Unit space,

This is because when a Point Library model is assigned to an alignment, you can set the rules for direction or arrangement.

A ) In some cases, assignments are made immediately in Base Mode as needed.

 

Assembly Unit > Assign Library > Point > Constraint / Follow horizontal angle

When Check On , it becomes the default setting that operates as described above .

When Check Off , the layout is parallel to the Global Y direction with respect to the Base Mode layout .
