Explanation

Union(Surface) Feature

This feature merges the selected objects into a single object.

  • [Select Target]

    • Master Object : Select the object to use as a property reference object for the newly created object that will result after the merge.

    • Other Object : Select the object to be merged with the Master object. Only objects that are of same type as the Master object can be selected.

  • [Option]

    • Merge Face : If set to On, the existing contours are deleted after the objects have been merged.

  • If set to On:

  • If set to Off:

The example shown aboves shows a pair of 2D Members with the Union feature applied.

When using the Union (Solid) feature, set the 3D Solid of the selected objects as targets for merge, and assign the properties of the Master object. Hence, as shown in the properties window on the left, the newly created object is a 3D Member with Solid geometry information, that is a combination of the Solids extracted from the initial 2D Member objects. In contrast, when using the Union (Surface) feature, set the 2D Face of the selected objects as targets for merge, and assign the properties of the Master object. Hence, as shown in the properties window on the right, the newly created object is a 2D Member with Plane geometry information, that is a combination of the faces extracted from the initial 2D Member objects.
