Analysis Properties

Summary

  • Explains the object’s analysis properties.

Explanation

Element Type

Settings for 1D Element compatibility type.

  • Beam
    Compatible with beam elements.

  • Truss
    Compatible with truss elements.

  • Compression Only
    Compatible with compression-only elements.

  • Tension Only
    Compatible with tension-only elements.

  • Tension Only

    • Cable
Tension-only elements are compatible with Elastic Catenary elements.

      • Lu
Lu Method uses the sag length of the cable.

      • Pretension
Pretension Method uses the tension of the cable directly.

      • Horizontal
Horizontal Method uses the horizontal tension of the cable.

Boundary Condition

Sets the beam end connection conditions of 1D elements.

  • None
Beam end connection conditions are not considered (Hinges, etc.)

  • Release
Beam end connection conditions are considered (Hinges, etc.)

    • Fx
Check the box to disable axial forces at the beam end, and input Partial Fixity as needed.

    • Fy
Check the box to disable y-axis direction shear forces at the beam end, and input Partial Fixity as needed.

    • Fz
Check the box to disable z-axis direction shear forces at the beam end, and input Partial Fixity as needed.

    • Mx
Check the box to disable torsional moment at the beam end, and input Partial Fixity as needed.

    • My
Check the box to disable y-axis torsional moment at the beam end, and input Partial Fixity as needed.

    • Mz
Check the box to disable z-axis torsional moment at the beam end, and input Partial Fixity as needed.

Mesh Size

Settings for the Auto Mesh interval length that is applied when creating the analysis model.

  • Custom Size Control

    • Off
Individual interval length settings are not applied.

    • On
Individual interval length settings are applied.

      • Interval Length
        Input the interval length.

      • Number of Divisions
        Input the number of divisions.

Global mesh settings are applied to members without Custom Size Control from the Analysis Case feature.

Option

Sets the interval for Auto Mesh when creating the analysis model.

  • Section Offset from Left-Bottom
When set to On, the member’s cardinal point properties are set to Left-Bottom when linked to midas Civil. The cardinal point is set to Left-Bottom regardless of the existing cardinal point of the member. The offset value is set automatically when creating the analysis model to maintain the relative position of the cross-section and the geometric line of the member.

After creating the member as shown in the left, turn On the Section Offset from Left-Bottom option to create the model in midas Civil as shown on the right when performing analysis interlocking. In order to maintain the relative position of the cross-section and the member geometry, an offset of 0.2m in the Horizontal direction and 0.3m in the Vertical direction was automatically calculated and entered.
