DWG/DXF

Summary

  • Export a CIM object as a 2D CAD or 3D CAD file (*.dwg, *.dxf).

How to Run

  • File Menu > Export > DWG/DXF

Explanation

Export 2D CAD Files

Export specific cross-sections of selected objects as 2D *.dwg, *.dxf files.

  • [Select Target]
Select the target object when creating a CAD file.

  • [Define Plane]
Define the plane to be used to cut selected objects.

  • [DWG File Version]
Select the version of the DWG file to be exported.

  • [Geometry Type]
Set whether to create curves in the cross-section using the Poly Line Mesh method.

  • [Tessellation]
Represents the angle between lines when creating a shape using the Poly Face Mesh method. Smaller angles can create shapes similar to a circle but this increases the number of lines which leads to an increase in the file size.

  • 15˚

Export 3D CAD Files

Export selected objects as 3D *.dwg, *dxf files.

  • [Select Target]
Select the range of objects to export when creating a CAD file.

    • All in Current Mode: Export all objects in the current Mode.

    • Selected Objects Only: Export selected objects only.

  • [Categorize Target]

    • None: All objects are uncategorized and exported as Layer=0.

    • Structure: Configures and export layers of a DWG file using the structures defined by each object.

      • A layer in a DWG file does not have a hierarchy, so a single structure level is selected for export.

  • [DWG File Version]
Select a DWG file version for export.

  • [3D Geometry Type]
Select the type of 3D geometry of the DWG file to be exported. Auto CAD supports and provides both types.

    • BREP(Recommended): A method of exporting a 3D surface in a triangular mesh shape.

    • Poly Face Mesh: This is a method to represent the surface of a 3D object using triangular mesh.

      • This is used when interchanging between SW and DWG file formats that cannot import BREP geometries.

  • BREP

  • Poly Face Mesh

  • [Tessellation]
Represents the angle between lines when creating a shape using the Poly Face Mesh method. Smaller angles can create shapes similar to a circle but this increases the number of lines which leads to an increase in the file size.

  • 15˚ (Default)

  • 45˚

  • [Option]

    • Export Rebar to Solid: Set whether to export Rebars.

    • Export Tendon to Solid: Set whether to export Tendons.

    • Export Stiffener to Solid: Set whether to export Stiffener.

    • [Search] Enter the file name of the DWG/DXF file to display and save by clicking Apply.
