Summary

This function creates a parent shape by extracting a child shape in a specific direction.

How to Run

  • Ribbon Menu > [Feature] Tab > [Generate] Group > Sweep

Explanation

Create a Parent Shape Using the Sweep Feature

Sweep the child shape along a specified path to create a parent shape.

  • [Selection Filter]
Select the type of the target to use when using the Sweep feature.

Info

  • [Select Target]
Select the target object. Only objects in the Selection Filter can be selected.

  • [Select Path]
Select the sweep path. Consecutive edges that do not overlap or intersect can be selected.

    • Edit Start Point : Sets the start point to use as a reference for the path.

    • Reverse Direction : Reverses the direction of the path.

  • [Sweep Length]
Enter the sweep length. The length cannot be greater than the maximum length of the path.

  • [Sweep Lock]
Select how to constrain the cross section that creates the feature.

    • Sweep Lock Type : Select the constraint method to create the shape.

      • Direction Locking : Locks the axis to set the position(angle) of the plane on which the cross section that creates the shape is placed based on the tangential direction of the path.

      • Plane Locking : Creates the shape for the section along the path by locking all axes of the plane based on the Global-Axis.

    • Lock Option : Select the locking method for the direction(axis).

      • None : No axes are constrained.

      • Rotation Only Direction : Creates a shape for a section along a path by fixing one axis of the plane. That is, it only allows rotation of sections on planes.

      • Path & Direction : Creates a shape for a section along a path by fixing one axis of the plane.

    • Lock Direction : Select how to set the lock direction.

      • Auto : Apply the direction vector as (0, 0, 1).

      • By Direction : Apply the direction vector input by the user.

      • By Plane : Apply the normal vector of the plane.

    • Vector : Enter the direction vector value.

    • Plane Setting : Sets the plane for setting the direction. Uses the plane's normal vector as the axis.

  • [Twist Angle]
Extract the extraction end section by rotating it as much as the user enters for the extraction start section.
